How to log sets to failure and missed reps
Some plans ask you to take sets to failure. Here’s what that means, and how to log failed reps, bodyweight sets and assisted sets in MaxLift.
What “to failure” means
Keep doing reps until you can’t complete another one with good form. Plans like 3 Day Full Body use it on most working sets; others ask you to stop one or two reps short.
Logging a missed rep
Enter 0 reps for a weight you tried but couldn’t lift. It stays in your history, so you can see where your limit was, and it never counts as a best set.
Bodyweight and assisted sets
- Bodyweight: leave the weight empty (shown as BW) and enter your reps.
- Added weight (a belt or vest): enter it as a positive number.
- Assisted (machine or band): enter it as a negative number.
Typing sets as text
When editing an old session, sets can be typed as text like 60x8 - 100x4 - 95x (the last one is a missed rep). Notes go in brackets: 100x3(assist).
